Supply Chain Manager

The Supply Chain Manager plays an essential role in the company’s commercial strategy and ensures an impressive return on investment that contributes to the company’s financial goals. They are responsible for overseeing activities related to a company’s products and services, including sourcing, warehousing, materials management, shipping/receiving as well as the oversight of materials moving to and from the manufacturing floor. Their primary duties include improving productivity and efficiency, reducing costs, securing high-quality materials, establishing and maintaining vendor relationships and ensuring a collaborative work environment between manufacturing and material management teams.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Ability to develop existing and new supplier relationships
  • Ensure materials meet or exceed engineering prints and standards
  • Negotiate with suppliers to obtain favorable agreements regarding delivery, quality, price and terms of purchase
  • Work closely with project teams to ensure smooth, effective and timely purchasing transactions and accountability to project deliverables
  • Create and maintain project specific parts inventory tracking systems (PITS)
  • Develop and maintain MRP procedures and controls
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of MRP architecture relative to inventory, procurement and project BOMs
  • Ensure accurate on-hand inventory counts and projections
  • Issue approved purchase orders, ensure receipt of order confirmations and verify costs
  • Closely monitor expected delivery dates to avoid delays and work with vendors to meet project delivery requirements
  • Manage the shipping, receiving and warehousing processes
  • Responsible for production planning and purchasing in coordination with project management and manufacturing teams
  • Collaborating with manufacturing to identify in-house vs outsourced material needs
  • Manage aftermarket parts orders and shipments
  • Oversee the kitting and staging of materials being issued to the manufacturing floor
  • Coordinate with finance and accounts payable to ensure financial transaction accuracy and transparency


Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years sourcing/purchasing experience in a manufacturing or similar, environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Previous experience working with Microsoft Dynamics MRP systems highly preferred
  • High proficiency in MS Office, specifically Excel and ability to quickly learn MRP
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering prints
  • Experience managing complex indented bills of materials
  • Experience working with mechanical and electrical parts highly preferred
  • Clear communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Excellent negotiating skills
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Strong planning skills and project management expertise
  • Relationship management skills and active listening
  • Experience leading and motivating a small team


This is a salaried, exempt position and we are proud to offer a very competitive benefits package. The successful candidate will live in the Louisville, KY area and report to the Director of Finance. A pre-employment drug screen and background check must be successfully completed.
