Job Description
CRG Automation, headquartered in Louisville, KY, is an award-winning leader transforming the future of industrial automation. We specialize in custom automation solutions including robotics, controls, material handling, packaging, welding, munitions, and more across diverse manufacturing industries. Our installed base of automation systems is growing, and so is the need for a dedicated aftermarket business that keeps those systems running long after commissioning. As part of our innovative and dynamic team, your contributions will directly shape a new division with real influence on how it takes shape.
The General Manager, Aftermarket Services owns the strategy, P&L, and infrastructure for CRG's aftermarket division from the ground up. This is a build role first and a run role second. The GM will take a nascent business offering and turn it into a scaled, systemized profit center, with a goal of representing 20% of CRG's overall business within three years. The role carries full P&L accountability across Engineering Consulting, Panel Building, Controls Programming, Remote Support, Preventive Maintenance, and Spare Parts, along with responsibility for standing up the systems, processes, and eventual team that will let the division scale. The ideal candidate combines commercial and financial acumen with enough technical fluency to lead credibly across engineering, field service, and customer conversations.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Own the aftermarket P&L in full, including revenue growth, margin management, and cost discipline, with executive sponsorship for major investments and decisions.
- Build the strategy and roadmap that takes aftermarket from an emerging function to a scaled, standalone division representing 20% of CRG's business within three years.
- Stand up Dynamics 365 Field Service as the operating backbone for the division, integrating workflows across engineering dispatch, invoicing, pricing, and procurement.
- Design and implement the processes, documentation, and systems needed to move aftermarket from ad hoc service delivery to a repeatable, scalable business.
- Direct the full aftermarket portfolio: Engineering Consulting, Panel Building, Controls Programming, Remote Support, Preventive Maintenance, and Spare Parts.
- Develop service offerings, packages, and contract structures that build recurring, predictable revenue.
- Set pricing strategy and commercial models across service lines.
- Leverage shared CRG resources to run the division in its early stages, then build the case for and lead a dedicated aftermarket team as the business scales.
- Recruit, hire, and develop team members as the division grows, with executive sponsorship on headcount decisions.
- Partner closely with Engineering, Sales, and Operations to coordinate resources and keep service commitments on track.
- Build direct relationships with key customers to understand their operational needs and surface aftermarket opportunities.
- Work with CRG's broader commercial team to identify aftermarket opportunities within the existing customer base.
- Report on division performance, systems progress, and growth against targets to executive leadership on a regular cadence.
Qualifications & Requirements
- A blend of technical and business acumen, with the ability to lead equally well in a P&L conversation and a technical one.
- Experience in aftermarket, industrial services, or a related services-based business model.
- A track record of building or significantly scaling a business unit, service line, or division, ideally from an early stage.
- Proven P&L ownership and the financial fluency to manage margin, pricing, and cost across a growing division.
- Strong systems and process orientation, with a default toward building repeatable infrastructure rather than working around gaps.
- Experience implementing or managing field service, CRM, or ERP platforms; Dynamics 365 experience is a plus.
- Controls experience or a working technical understanding of industrial automation systems preferred.
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial automation, or a related capital equipment industry preferred.
- A background that spans both field operations and business leadership preferred.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to interface effectively across internal teams and directly with customers.
