CRG Automation Hosts Inaugural Student Robotics Day

LOUISVILLE, KY — May 13, 2026 — CRG Automation hosted its first-ever Student Robotics Day on May 13 at the company's Louisville headquarters, welcoming four local student robotics teams for a day of hands-on shop tours, engineering conversations and a celebration of the region's growing pipeline of young automation talent.

The event brought together students and coaches from Louisville Collegiate School (middle and high school), Engineers of Tomorrow FRC Team 2783, and the Holy Spirit Cactuses, a three-time Kentucky State Champion VEX IQ team. All four programs earned invitations to compete in national or international competitions this season.

Students toured CRG's state-of-the-art automation shop, where the company designs and builds custom automation systems for manufacturers across North America. The day included walk-throughs of active builds on the shop floor, a hands-on demonstration with a Fanuc cobot, conversations with CRG engineers and an open Q&A on careers in industrial automation.

"These students are doing the same kind of work our engineers do every day, just at a different scale," said Dillon Sego, VP of Engineering and Sales at CRG Automation. "Seeing how much they’ve all been able to accomplish at such young ages was a reminder of why this industry is in good hands."

CRG launched Student Robotics Day as part of a broader commitment to STEM engagement and workforce development in the Kentuckiana region. The skilled labor shortage facing industrial manufacturers has been a persistent topic across the sector, and CRG sees direct investment in student programs as one of the most practical ways to address it.

"Talking about the talent gap is easy. Opening your doors and actually showing kids what this work looks like is harder, and it matters more," said Alex Reed, Chief Commercial Officer at CRG Automation. "Every student who walked through here on Tuesday left with a clearer picture of what a career in automation can look like. That's the goal."

CRG continues to support local student robotics programs through sponsorships, mentorship, and facility access throughout the competition season.
